Kandalama Hotel, Sri Lanka, is an exemplar of environmental management in the hotel industry. During our visit to their eco park on July 2, 2007, we were quite impressed with what we saw. The Heritance Kandalama hotel proves that one does not need to sacrifice environmental standards for a high standard of accommodation. It has a world-recognized environmental management system, which awarded as the first Green Globe 21 certified hotel in Asia. |

3rasia did an education program for kids at Pansalwatte, a community in Maradana. The event was organized by CUP (Children’s Upliftment Program, www.cupsl.org). The education was a two-way affair. We perhaps learned more from them than they did from us. The community is well organized, knowledgeable and is proud of its neighborhood which is cleaner than any Colombo 7 one. The temple is at the edge of the community and the young priest demonstrated a wisdom that we don’t find in the Buddhist establishment. The community is multiethnic and the temple serves as a spiritual haven for all in the community. Please visit our gallery to see more pictures. |
