අම්බලන්ගොඩ නගර සභාවට පන්සලෙන් අතහිත නිවාස 5072 ක් ද ව්යාපාරික ස්ථාන 1035 ක් හා තවත් ආයතන රැසක් සහිතව වර්ග කිලෝ මීටර් 7.1 ක වපසරියක් තුළ පැතිර ඇති අම්බලන්ගොඩ නගර සභාව දැනට කොම්පෝස්ට් බඳුන් 500 ක ප්රමාණයක් නගරවාසීන් අතර බෙදා දී තිබේ. නමුත් නිසි කසළ කළමණාකරණයක් සඳහා එය ප්රමාණවත් නොවේ. ඊට කසල කළමණාකරණයේ මුලික අංග ඇතුලත් විය යුතු ය.නිවසේ දීම කොම්පෝස්ට් සදා ගැනීම, ප්රතිචක්රීය කළ හැකි ද්රව්යය වෙන් කිරීම, වීදි කසළ වලින් තොරව පවත්වා ගැනීම යන කරුණු පිළිබඳව වැඩි අවධානයක් යොමුකළ යුතු ය. මේ පිළිබඳ සැළකිලිමත් වෙමින් අම්බලන්ගොඩ කළවඩුමුල්ල ප්රදේශයේ දෛනිකව එක්රැස්වන කසල ප්රමාණය කළමණාකරණය කිරීම සඳහා කළවඩුමුල්ල විහාරස්ථානය සමග එක්ව නව ආදර්ශ වැඩ පිළිවෙළක් අම්බලන්ගොඩ නගර සභාව විසින් ආරම්භ කර ඇත.

Board of Investment of Sri Lanka today signed an agreement with Green keepers (Pte) Ltd. to set up an export trading house to source industrial waste material.
This project will recycle, process and export identified waste to recycling plants across the globe. |

හික්කඩුව නගරසභාවට සේවක අග හිඟ  නිවාස 7500 කින් මෙන්ම සංචාරක නවාතැන් 300 ක් ඇතුළු වෙනත් ආයතන රුසකින් යුතු හික්කඩුව නගරසභාව වර්ග කි.මී. 12.55ක වපසරියකින් යුක්ත වුවකි. දේශිය මෙන්ම විදේශීය සංචාරකයින්ගේ සොදුරු නවාතැන්පලක් වන හික්කඩුව නගරය කසලින් තොර සුන්දර නගරයක් ලෙස පවත්වා ගැනීමෙහිලා නගරසභාවට ඇති ප්රබලම ගැටළුව ප්රමාණවත් සේවක පිරිසක් නොමැති වීමය.

At a meeting held at the auditorium of the Central Environment Authority (CEA) on 16th June 2008 with Mr. Udaya Gammanpila (Chairman, Central Environment Authority) in the Chair, the CEA reported that there were objections to the proposed Environment Levy Bill from several political parties. The meeting, it was stated, was an attempt at increasing awareness amongst the general public as well as the political parties about the proposed legislation. |

 Workshop on 3R training materials was held on 9 May, 2008 at Hotel Janaki, Colombo 05.
One of the objectives of the workshop was introduce various groups concerned with 3R awareness to each other and to their work. In that sense I hope you found the workshop useful. The second objective of the workshop was to identify the need, if any, for additional training materials such as a DVD/VCD on 3R. |

Up against dumping garbage |

The residents of Matale Wariyapola Estate staged a protest on 3rd this month against dumping garbage in the estate.
More than 500 protestors participated. They displayed placards and shouted slogans accusing Matale Municipal Council for creating a health hazard in the area. The agreement between the Wariyapola Estate administration and the Municipal Council to use a land belonging to the estate as a dumping ground expired in last January. |
